What Makes For A Clear Mission Statement?
We recently ruminated on why it is important to articulate a mission statement for your small business. Remember, taking the time to reflect and express your mission will serve as a North Star for your business endeavors and it can be especially helpful when the chaos of running a business gets to be a little overwhelming. Your mission statement is a reminder to you and the world why your business exists and the value you bring to your community!
Members of our team have some past experience pitching screenplays and we can say that like creating a solid logline for a script there is a slight art to creating a clear mission statement. To do so effectively, you’re gonna want to craft something that communicates the purpose of your business and who you serve. Here are a few tips for crafting a clear mission statement:
Be Concise: Get to the point in one or two sentences.
Purpose-Driven: Communicate why your business exists.
Audience-Focused: Consider the needs of your customers or key stakeholders.
Actionable: It highlights what you do, the value you deliver and the problem you solve.
Example of a Clear Mission Statement:
"To teach passionate entrepreneurs best practices for sustainable business growth by setting up strong foundational pillars for success.” (shameless plug I know!)
Why do we think our mission statement works? It’s direct, identifies who we serve and speaks to their needs.
We don’t want you to take our word for it though. What do you think? Do you think alesce’s mission statement is clear, concise and conveys a sense of purpose? Let us know!
